A heartfelt patient testimonial....... There are many positive things that can be said about the Pines at Utica, but the most outstanding quality in my mind is its warm and caring atmosphere. In every facet of this facility, I met with professional, helpful and considerate people. It was so welcoming to have a friendly and pleasant doctor who took the time to talk to me and apprize my situation. Even more importantly, the nurses on the second floor Judy, Deb, Laurie and Heather treated me as an individual. They always had concern for my progress, a kind word of encouragement, and the expertise to make sure I was improving. When I first arrived at The Pines, I had recently had my left leg amputated. They cared for my wound diligently, making certain that it healed as it should. The aides were of tremendous help to me during my convalescence. Especially Chelsea, Kelly and Jeanne who supported me during some dark and scary moments when I was adjusting to the big change in my life. They not only helped me improve physically but also emotionally and held my hand through this difficult period of adjustment. As you can imagine, physical therapy was an important part of my convalescence. Every morning , with an aide's kind assistance, I was ready to meet someone from therapy. Each person who came to get me was kind and thoughtful. Semin, Tunde, and Andre were wonderful toward me. They both helped me to learn how to use the slider to get on to and off of my bed, and later on to get inside and out of the car. I can't thank them enough for that. All of the staff inside of the PT room were great also. I strongly recommend the Pines for physical therapy. The staff members who worked in the Activity department were so friendly! They invited me to play the piano in the activity room. Since I had made my living as a professional musician, this was probably the best psychological therapy for me. In the midst of feeling less of a person because of the loss of a limb, I was made to feel like myself again as I played for the other residents and staff. The kitchen and maintenance employees, administration, case workers and receptionists were extremely helpful and pleasant at all times. I want to thank them as well for their help in my recovery. I believe that the vision of the Pines at Utica is to treat the whole person, and this vision is definetely realized. I am so glad to have been at the Pines after this traumatic event in my life and want to thank everyone. ~ John Jedlan
